With the goal of making the greatest impact on the stray and feral cat population, a small and impassioned group of volunteers established For the Cats’ Sake, the Piedmont’s first not-for-profit dedicated solely to Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and feline spaying/neutering assistance.
As with any start-up operation, For the Cats’ Sake quickly learned that TNR was not always a simple, three-step process. When working with its first large cat colony (35 cats+), several of the cats were clearly loving and adoptable animals. This is often the case as many of these colonies have become known as drop-off spots for people looking to dispose of unwanted cats.
The benefits of vaccination were determined to be not only significant for the health and safety of the felines but also for the community as a whole, and so our TNR mission evolved to include vaccinating all captured and treated animals, plus arranging adoptions for socialized kittens and cats.
For the Cats’ Sake is also dedicated to educating the public on the importance of spay and neuter. We have joined forces with the network of cat lovers in the community to make the Piedmont a place where there are no unwanted cats and all those who live here are treated with compassion, kindness, and understanding.
